With over 155 years of experience, THYSSEN SCHACHTBAU GMBH is one of the world’s leading specialist companies in shaft sinking, mining, and drilling. Our “Shaft Sinking and Drilling” division has set industry benchmarks with more than 200 km of completed shaft sinking and is now the largest provider of complex underground construction services in Europe.
Our services cover a broad spectrum – from conventional shaft sinking and ground freezing shafts to specialized drilling and fully mechanized shaft boring methods with diameters exceeding 8 meters. We offer turnkey solutions, from project planning including technical studies and structural calculations to the safe execution of complex construction tasks.
We also bring outstanding expertise to international specialist civil engineering projects: whether shaft sinking projects with depths of more than 2,000 meters in Siberia or tunnel development works in Kazakhstan – our experience, skilled personnel, and technical equipment make us a reliable partner worldwide.
In the mining sector, we have been active for years as a general contractor for the conversion and operation of mine water management sites on behalf of RAG Aktiengesellschaft. We handle all dismantling, rehabilitation, and maintenance measures, as well as operational management – in compliance with the highest safety and quality standards.
Our subsidiary, Bergbau-Spezialgesellschaft Ruhr-Lippe mbH, supports demanding mining specialist tasks across Germany with qualified personnel – particularly in mine water management, tunneling, and the securing of legacy facilities.
