The project involved the execution of a 130 m long horizontal full-face drilling on the 3rd level of the decommissioned Morsleben repository. The objective was to verify the absence of gas in the surrounding rock as a measure to stabilize the repository, which is considered at risk of collapse. Explosion-proof drilling equipment (Diamec 262) was used, classified for methane atmospheres in accordance with explosion group II A and temperature class T1.
